This client hosts a large family Thanksgiving each year, so creating a warm and welcoming room was especially important. After replacing the windows and purchasing new furniture, they needed a wall color that would bring the updated elements together. Having lived for many years with a bold chromatic accent wall recommended by a previous designer, they were ready for a softer, more neutral palette.
Because a natural stone fireplace is the “boss” of the room, the wall color needed to relate to its dominant undertone. I specified a versatile grey that connects beautifully with both the stone and the new furnishings. Since the carpeting will be replaced in the near future, I advised the client on sourcing a rug that repeats the wall color and helps create a more cohesive look in the meantime.
